Size: Small Cabinet
7.8x3x2.8 cm
Location: Pine Creek Mine, Scheelite
Bishop District, Inyo County

United States
Description: Beautiful specimen of cream-yellow colour Laumontite crystals, up to 7 cm in size, associated with Calcite. Laumontite is a zeolite mineral. According to some, the Laumontite may have been replaced by Leonhardite (pseudomorphism). Leonhardite is a variety of Laumontite which is partially dehydrated. Important note: the specimen has apparently been dipped in water-diluted glue to prevent complete dehydratation and disintegration. I do not know if this customary or not for these specimens.
