Description: Shown is a 2-3/4" wide flat mass of native silver with black acanthite coating from Creede, Colorado. Silver from Creede occurred in multiple forms including wire, leaf, massive in matrix, and flattened irregular pieces. This one probably came out before 1960 based on its form. Much of the wire silver seen today was found in the 1970's-1980's just before the mines began to close.
