Description: |
This is an older Peruvian silver ore specimen that came from the historic San Genaro Mine of Castrovirreyna mining District. There are numerous mineral species present on this one including sharp pyrargyrite crystals in and among amber color sphalerite crystal groups, bright brassy yellow chalcopyrites, all accented with small white color tabby baryte crystals. The rare silver-antimony sulfide species baumstarkite (a type locality species) is highly possible with this association, but not confirmed. An old time classic Peru specimen very seldom seen with this rich and rare mineral assemblage. Ex. John Ydren Collection dispersed in 2008. |
